Our History

1982
Jim Baxter founded the NMA with the purpose of repealing the National Maximum Speed Limit of 55 mph.

1995
After a years long campaign, the NMA successfully repealed the National Maximum Speed Limit.

1998
The NMA was reborn to expand to more motorists issues and developed the early Activist System and the NMA Foundation was established.

2001
The NMA successfully worked with state and federal legislators to increase the speed limit to 65 mph on highways.
